Phase 2 prevents the carb digestive sequence from occurring as usual because it has a neutraliser effect on the alpha amylase. This means it prevents the ezyme from carrying out its normal function of breaking down starch and converting it into calories. By blocking the alpha amylase, the presence of the Phase 2 carb blocker allows all those carb foods you eat to be processed by the digestive system with a big reduction in the calorie intake.
